A Day To Remember

Simply two men deciding to run a marathon for personal achievement, has led to the creation of a sporting activity event, aimed towards children with limited access to sports within the community of Dudley. Each with over two decades of dedicated amateur sports participation and careers within the Health, Sports and Leisure industries, we are now embracing the opportunity to give back to the community that has fulfilled our lives and maximised our social interaction within. We intend to fundraise through various methods in order to achieve our target of £800 to enable this fantastic opportunity to deliver activities to our target audience, including but not limited to, children with: Physical Disability Looked After Children Mental Illness Learning Disabilities Inactive Lifestyles  We intend to raise enough funds to deliver our intended fun day, through the following methods: Lisbon Marathon (5th October 2014) – We are now deep into our marathon training program, for which the race takes place on the Southern Portuguese Coastline, commencing in Cascais and finishing in Lisbon. Our individual target times for completing the race are both in the region of 3hr 15m – 3hr 30m. Despite the tough training regime and number of miles covered over recent weeks, we both remain excited by the challenge to come, fuelled by the cause for which we are now running. Quiz Night – David Lloyd Dudley have kindly offered a room-hire facility (date tbc) to hold an evening’s entertainment on the facility, free of charge, meaning all proceeds on the night will contribute towards ‘A Day To Remember’. Raffle, craft and confectionary stalls will also be available during the event.  Any contributions received in excess of the event running cost, along with any receipts during the day, will be used to support the local charities that have assisted with the participation of the event. There is also the potential for further follow-up sessions with the children, if the event is found to be a success. We have the intention of fundraising further events by collaborating with other partners in the local community, which will be endorsed through more gruelling aerobic challenges (depending on how much this one hurts!!)
