My name is Thabit and I am from Sudan. A long time ago, I came to Malaysia to complete my higher education and recieve a degree, in something. I truly had no idea what do I desire to study, what is my passion or what is my path, I only knew the common society standards of degrees that are more likely to earn you a living and get you a decent job in the future. Engineering, Medicine or maybe Business studies. Deep down I knew I had no interest in any of these fields but I was willing to give anything a try. 

I went ahead with Engineering in Bioinstrumentation and from the first few classes I knew it's not for me but I continued anyway, until it was difficult to proceed while my father expensively funded my education. I decided to move on and do architecture, but by then, my father has already collapsed financially when he lost his business back in Sudan and had come to Malaysia with the family to seek refuge from the political apartheid of the Sudanese government against certain races and ethnic groups.

At home we had to make ends meet and I found myself torn between my drawing table and waiting tables in restaurants among many trivial jobs I endeavoured to help me earn any living. This period of my life taught me big lessons but then I had to sacrifise my own schooling for my younger siblings to make it.

I have found myself a great job finally, it is an opportunity for me to learn communication, pursue my love of writing which I have discovered due to this job, I have learned many online marketing techniques and secrets, I have taken care of projects and big websites, I have served many customers and I have made a big network of successful people and entrepneurs to call friends. And now, the time to reinforce myself with formal education has come, not for the sake of a certificate but in order to pursue my dream project of reforming the education system as it is. I figured I will be much more effective in making a serious reform in the education system when I have actually been part of the whole process. That is why I decided to study Arts in Communication. 

I have applied to the American Saint Louis University in Spain, as I am fascinated by that land and that culture, so much so that I have taught myself Spanish in 6 months and I speak it well. I believe that in order for me to have a great educational journey, the environment and quality of education matters very much specially if I seek a space of creativity and strong personal input into my syllabus and of opinions. I can not even begin to imagine the amount of learning and inspiration Ill be able to collect from all the people around me during my Study in Saint Louis in Madrid in addition to what my experience in digital media and communication has already given me. An explosion of achieved goals, dreams and projects coming true.

I have also applied for an administrative support award in Saint Louis which will be decided upon in April 2013 but since the maximum amount of award one can receive in SLU is 50% it will be necessary for me to keep a steady source of funding. Right now I have a unique opportunity to start growing my own online educational business which will act as my source of income while in Spain. However, in order for me to proceed with my Student visa and commence my studies in September 2013, I need to advance an amount of €8,700 as first semester tuition fees.
