Who are you, people?
We call ourselves “Athar”! We’re a performance group directing rad and vivid fire shows in Riga, Latvia. We’re also a flow-arts school for anyone who wishes to join: young or old, guys or girls.
What’s all the fuss about?
We love what we’re doing – and that keeps us afloat: we’ve performed all across Latvia (and the Baltics) for many years by now, which includes free-of-charge performances, teaching the flow in schools and orphanages, participating in town events, and so on.
Lately, though, we’ve felt the craving to take our act to the next level! That’s why we designed this full-scale performance based on L. Carroll’s “Alice” – with costumes, fireworks, smokes, comets and everything – and with a sprinkle of steampunk aesthetics to boot!
We’re dying to show you this new spectacular show, for we’ve already put a lot of effort into it – but such an endeavor requires funding, and since our student’s entry fee is so miniscule it barely even covers our gym rent, we need your help to make the big show happen!
What’s in it for me?
- Well, firstly – it’s for the Flow: the more people we reach – the merrier! We want to keep Riga in touch with the prop-spinning and fire-dancing world out there, and we want as much people to join the Community as possible. We aim to teach, to perform and to deliver all the fun and pleasure of the show to everybody. That’s why in case we succeed – you might as well see us perform in your own hometown someday!
- Secondly, there are some other sweet bonuses. We don’t have much to offer yet – but we’ll make sure you receive a little something for your help: a personal postcard, a souvenir or any other token of gratitude we’ll be able to think of.
- Tutorials! We’ll keep you informed on our preparation for the show, and we’ll be recording our tips’n’tricks for those who wish to know how things work from inside! That could include spinning tutorials, make-up tips, insights on choreography and prop-making. But it will sure be fun!
- Our gratitude! we’re sure karma has even more bonuses in stock for you – so why not give it a try?
What do you need the money for?
For just about anything, basically. We’ll keep the list updated, but our main spendings include:
~ Costumes and accessories (partially got’em!) – $565;
~ Lamps and projectors – $450;
~ Photo and video (cameramen and editing) – $680;
~ Props and consumables (partially got’em!) – $1,000;
~ Our gym rent for the training period (and prop/electronics safekeeping) – $2,700;
~ Website and hosting – $220;
~ Fireworks and show equipment– $1,130;
~ Posters and marketing;
Total: up from 5,650
P.S. This is an approximated breakdown: more funds might be needed as we progress. But we believe that this minimum amount will give us a head start we need to manage our other spendings later on. Any money we acquire over the required minimum will be put to our related projects: whether tutorial-making, prop-mending or any similar needs.
When will your promised show be ready?
That depends on lots of things, obviously – including the rate of this fundraising campaign. But since we’ve already done some of the necessary preparation, we might finish before this summer season will be over. If not, we’ll surely get it ready before the start of the next one.
In any case, we cordially thank you for your help, your efforts and your commitment to our cause and the Flow!
Athar Performance Group.
