Hello everyone,
I'm Stefani Grigoriou from Limassol, Cyprus, and I have been helping communities in need in rural Ghana for 10 years now. Some of you may already know me, but for those who don't, you can check out my Instagram page @myprojects.in.africa or contact me for more information.
I need your help, to assist some very remote areas near a town called Ejura in the Ashanti region of Ghana. Last weekend, my team and I visited these villages. They are approximately a 1 hour and 15-minute motorbike ride from Ejura, as cars are unable to access these places due to the narrow, challenging and bumpy road. One could easily say that these villages are in the middle of nowhere....
I find it really hard to explain to you what exactly the situation is, but let me start by saying that we've never seen something like this before. We were humbled. We were shocked.
The community consists of approximately 600 people, adults and children, who do not have a nearby school. The closest school is in Ejura, which means walking for over 2 hours, and some children still make that journey. Additionally, there is no access to clinics or doctors. However, the most critical issue is water. The residents are "forced" to fetch their water from puddles as they do not have any other source of water, whether clean or not. Their water source is the road itself !! Therefore, people, animals, motorbikes, tricycles, and so on pass by, and yet people still fetch and use this water for their everyday needs.
These communities are in desperate need of AT LEAST one borehole, preferably in the central village. From there, the other villages can access the water. Gradually, we should consider drilling two or three additional boreholes, one in each village.
Please take a look at the photos, and kindly help in any way you can. Any donation counts! Your help and support are greatly appreciated. Thank you!
