Volunteering in Cambodia

In the summer next year, I plan to go to Cambodia to volunteer in a children's orphanage there for two weeks. I am going because the workers of the orphanage are over-stretched and the orphanage itself over-subscibed - I hope to relieve the workers of the orphange of some of the stress of childcare, and also ensure that the children receive the care and attention they deserve. I am going to do the Care and Community placement with the company Projects Abroad, who are well-established in the field of overseas volunteering/relief work. It is them who set the budget for my trip, which includes the £1200 for the project itself (accomodation, food, transport etc),  and flights to Cambodia. I will include a link to the website and the project I will be participating in, so feel free to take a look.  The obvious aim of this experiment is to interact with the underpriviledged children in the orphanages of Phnom Penh, ensuring they experience the childhood that everyone has the right to. During my stay I will help look after the children, teach them new games and some basic english, and support the staff of the orphanage. I will also help to paint new murals on the walls of the orphanage, to help create a fun and safe environment for the children to learn and play in.  I would be so grateful if you got involved in this great cause, not only because it is the opportunity of a lifetime for me, but also because there are orphans in Cambodia right now that desperately need your help.
