Volunteer Trip to Madagascar!

Hello!

My name is Inês, I'm from Portugal and I love to travel!

At the end of the year of 2019 I discovered the volunteering program IVHQ, which really intrigued me and is making me want to participate on at least one of its projects this year. I made it as one of my goals for this fresh new year 2020: be able to travel, meet a completely different culture and new people, while having a meaningful impact, by being responsible and have a sustainable positive impacts on local needs.

I really love our planet and its nature, therefore, I wanted to start by volunteering at Madagascar, for 2 weeks, with the project 'turtle conservation'. On this project I would help establish areas of turtle activity, identify population size, re-establish nesting beaches, conduct seagrass surveys, take part in turtle watches and beach clean-ups. Also, help with education programs for local communities and promote the protection of Madagascar’s turtles. If possible, teach classes in schools, assist in construction projects and go on forest hikes. I really want to participate in this project, I believe it will open my mind to so many aspects.

However, all of this wonder has its cost. I will be responsible for the expenses of flights, accommodation, transportation, meals, visa, travel and medical shots, traveler's insurance, program fees, and probably others. I am working at the moment but these costs are a little too high for me, and I am going to have to use my work holidays to be able to "work hard, play hard" as IVHQ describes as their philosophy. Thus, I decided to give gogetfunding a try! I appreciate all donations of any value! See it as a valuable help, not only for me but to these cultures, people and animal life and also, to these programs and their long-term results with the help of all the volunteers who participate!
