Vision for Children

Vision for children is a volunteer-based organization working towards the purpose of helping vulnerable and neglected children in Kiandutu Slum.

Having grown up in the slum and relating closely to problems associated with slum life, I realized the need for a project to help the children and especially the ones between three and six years of age. These children were identified to be going days without food and others were severely malnourished. The basic foundation plan was a feeding program for the children. We have been able to feed a total of 300 kids with the support of friends contributions.

I personally was able to support three kids for two meals daily for an entire school term.

We were able to provide for school uniforms for 10 children with the help of a Canadian friend. We were able to fund two children’s entry into preschool.

We have been working closely with friends and some community volunteers but it has not been sustainable due to the lack of funds.

We would like to start this program in future full-time in order to be able to reach out to these vulnerable children, but we require funding to be able to maintain the program.

Once funding is secured, we will be able to provide the following:

1. A regular and sustainable feeding program which will provide two meals per day.
2. Family support to provide parent empowerment.
3. Ensure that the children are monitored in terms of health.
4. Ensure the children progress well in acquiring age-appropriate skills.
