Vhal Aaron Zedric marzan’s Fight against Guillain Barre’ Syndrome

Hello everyone, I am Sheryll, I am raising fund in behalf of my nephew, Vhal Aaron Zedric who was recently diagnosed of Guillain-Barre' Syndrome. He is 10 years old, a grade 5 active pupil. He is kind hearted and generous kid.

Guillain-Barré syndrome is a disorder in which the body's immune system attacks part of the peripheral nervous system. The first symptoms of this disorder include varying degrees of weakness or tingling sensations in the legs. In many instances, the weakness and abnormal sensations spread to the arms and upper body. These symptoms can increase in intensity until the muscles cannot be used at all and the person is almost totally paralyzed. In these cases, the disorder is life-threatening and is considered a medical emergency. The individual is often put on a ventilator to assist with breathing. Most individuals, however, have good recovery from even the most severe cases of Guillain-Barré syndrome (GBS), although some continue to have some degree of weakness.

There is no known cure for Guillain-Barré syndrome, but therapies can lessen the severity of the illness and accelerate the recovery in most patients. There are also a number of ways to treat the complications of the disease. Currently, plasmapheresis (also known as plasma exchange) and high-dose immunoglobulin therapy are used . The Intravenous Immunoglobulins are costly with an estimate of P400,000.00 for 5-days therapy aside from other expenses not included. 5 days of IVIG treatment was completed, however, attending physician recommended and ordered to start another cycle of IVIG due to poor response and slow progression. Unfortunately, without continuous financial support, we cannot push through with his medication and other treatment.
