Urgent help expensive medicine for specialneedsdog.

Gizmo is a 12 year old senior male dog who was in a car accident years ago. He was rescued but sadly his hind legs were severely damaged, leaving him permanently disabled.

I’ve been caring for Gizmo since 2019.

He is a really lovely, funny boy full of character. He has a lot of love for people and they instantly fall in love with him in return.

Gizmo suffers from terribly itchy atopic skin. This is a hormone issue and to help manage his symptoms he requires expensive medicine for the rest of his life.

The medication he needs is Zoetis Apoquel, which costs 6USD (180THB) per day from the veterinary in Thailand. This means the monthly cost is 180USD, and yearly 2,160USD.

He also has numerous food allergies, including chicken, so needs specific foods to help manage this. He must have Royal canin d/d Food Skin Sensitivities which costs 130USD (3,600TH) per month.

I can’t afford these high medical costs because I’m caring for 14 rescued dogs, all of which are either senior or special needs, and require lots of time and attention every day.

We don’t have any funding or outside support for him at the moment. I give him a regular medical shampoo, but it is not enough to improve his allergies. His poor hairless skin is so itchy and uncomfortable that without the correct treatment he is scratching and in pain every day.
