Unbreakable Spirit – Help Olga Win Battle Against Osteogenesis Imperfecta

Hello! 😊 Thanks for taking interest to know my story. My name is Olga Vivero and I have a rare genetic disorder called Osteogenesis Imperfecta (OI). This condition causes my bones to be very fragile and brittle, thus, my frequent visits to hospitals and specialists.

Ever since I was 3 years old, I've had countless bone fractures which limits some of my activities. My condition doesn't have a cure but it requires lifetime and holistic treatment from geneticists, orthopedic doctors, spine doctors, ENT doctors, physical rehabilitation doctors, and endocrinologists. I also have to undergo regular infusions of medicine, apart from oral medicines, that aid in making my bones stronger.

Last May 2019, I went to my spine doctor and found out that my scoliosis, secondary to my OI condition, is getting worse. I have to undergo a spine surgery in Philippine General Hospital as soon as possible to correct my worsening spine condition which may lead to respiratory impairment or worse paralysis if not treated soon. Unfortunately, the surgery itself would already cost around P600,000 not including my post-operative rehabilitation treatments which will be very difficult to finance for our family. Your help, no matter what amount, would definitely be a big help for us.

My condition is caused by a spontaneous genetic mutation which means it doesn't run in the family. This reminds me of a story in the Bible in John 9 where Jesus healed a blind man. When asked what caused the man's blindness, his sin or his parents, Jesus answered, "“Neither this man nor his parents sinned, but this happened so that the works of God might be displayed in him." As Psalm 139:15 TPT says, "[God] even formed every bone in my body when [He] created me in the secret place, carefully, skillfully shaping me from nothing to something."

I was told I'd live only till I'm 18. I'm 28 now and I'm still living under the grace of God. I believe God still has a purpose for letting me go this far. Your help will be a part of my story and eventually a proof of God's provision and love. Thank you for being used as an instrument of God.
