Hi, my name is Toprak Eylul Erki. I am a 21 year old trans woman living in Denizli. I am also a student. I'm preparing for the university exam right now. I have had and live a lot of difficulties due to my sexual identity. Incidents such as bullying, violence, sexual harassment and being expelled from school because of my sexual identity left me with great traumas, especially during my school life. Along with this, I have always been in a war with my body as well as with my environment. I was born in the wrong body. I try to do my best to regain the body I belong to. The only person in my family I could get financial support from was my father, but he refuses to support me financially. I am currently in the doctor's process for my trans adjustment process. I have been using hormone drugs for 4 years. This is a very difficult process financially and morally.

Even taking my medicines is hard for me financially. But I have a much more difficult surgery ahead of me. Unless I do this, my ID card will continue to write "male". and this situation puts me in a difficult position in many areas. I cannot find a job, when I give my identity card, it is learned that I am a trans woman and somehow I am subjected to transphobia. If they want to fire someone, I will be the first person they will fire because of my sexual identity. I've had this before. Against trans women living in Turkey have a great hatred. We are ostracized and even kill! They do not want to give us a job. They do not even want us to exist in this society. The money required for the operation is 40 thousand TL. These surgery fees continue to increase with each passing year. I cannot save this money because I cannot find a job and work. It is my biggest dream to have a gender attunement surgery. If I have an operation and get a female identity card, most of the obstacles in front of me will be lifte. Like every trans person, I want to live freely, work in the most comfortable way, exist without fear and stand on my own feet.
