Madaalini Ifanii is a 23 year old girl IT expert from Kenya,North Eastern region. A place that education for a girl is not much serious, but for Ifanii she beat the odds and got good grades which took her to Nairobi for her High school education, where she later got her passion for IT. She completed her high school studies with an A exemption, and was called to join Wollongong University. She was not even in a position to raise money for her passport.
But lack of her passport money and intuition fee couldn't dampen her resolve. Instead, she is inspired to start a small community school that will have modern computers and facilities to help the less fortunate in her region to acquire IT skills.
She says that her community school will precisely address the great gender imbalance in the tech sector by encouraging women to participate in the program, and also offer financial support and walk through to those who need it. She will invite women in her community who lack access of education and further education to apply and her IT program will allow them to thrive!
'I'm ineligible to go the university, but i'm not ineligible to continue learning and become an IT expert, so i am starting a small IT hub to give myself and numerous disadvantaged women in my community a chance to learn, improve their-selves and build awesome technology for the Horn of Africa' - Madalaani Ifanii.
It's onus to contribute towards a movement that is going to empower young women with technological skills. Lets do this!
