If there's one big thing that life has taught me, it's "No one is too old or too young when life decides to hit you hard."

Before I begin our story, this campaign is made to seek support for our mother's medical needs who are diagnosed with Chronic Kidney Disease. Our families have both survived the expense of the Venous Catheter and AV Fistula, but now we're faced with the continuous dialysis expense. Thus, this is our ray of hope.

I'm Fabs, and my friend's name is Jazel. I'm running 29 and she's 23. I was looking for a job and Jazel was the Human Resource personnel who interviewed me. From then on, we just clicked. It's unbelievable how we had a lot of things in common that it's even mind blowing sometimes. We've even reached the point of thinking that we have met on our past lives. We are just the usual young friends who work hard on the weekdays and unwind on the weekends. We didn't have much responsibilities. We take our families on trips that they haven't went to before, we take them on restaurants to make them experience delicious foods. We weren't rich, but we had enough to give our parents extra enjoyment in life. But then our life came to a sudden twist.

MY STORY

I'm Maria Besilda A. Fabilane, running 29 this April. Goal-driven, tried several sidelines, and a youtuber who's still trying hard to have her first salary. You could say I'm a strong independent woman. I once worked in famous companies. I was an accounting staff in a famous department store company for 2 years before resigning to be a manager in a famous fast food restaurant for 3 years. But as I grow older, all I wanted was a work that would last until I retire. And both companies aren't really ideal once you already have your own family. So I decided to resign and look for a job wherein you work 5 times a week and has a regular 8AM-5PM schedule. I wasn't quite worried of the financial aspects as I had enough saved money that would last for 3 months. I wasn't really looking for a high-paying job either, what matters to me at that time is a regular work set-up. I mean, we have enough to provide food on or table, we wouldn't need that much money right? And that's when life suddenly gave me a quick answer that made me hit rock bottom.

My mother got sick. She was diagnosed with Chronic Kidney Disease. She was advised to undergo dialysis treatment but it wasn't urgent. She was still physically okay so we didn't really felt the sense of urgency. We tried herbal medicines that claims results and changes in a patient's medical condition, but to no avail. Later on, she started feeling chills. I asked Jazel if it was one of the symptoms of CKD since her mother was diagnosed months before, and yes it was. Her creatinine level rose to 800. Her body started deteriorating. There, the urgency we haven't felt before finally run down our spines. My savings was cleaned off because of my mother's regular check-ups. Not only was my savings lost, but I seem to have lost my drive and hope as well. Don't get me wrong, I've been through a lot before this. I've lost a child once and now seeing your mother sick and might die on you just drove me to the edge.

Setting aside all these depression, we started looking for ways to support my mother's operation. The company I was working on was good enough to let me borrow funds as back-up for my mother's Venous Catheter, an operation through the neck, and AV Fistula expense. With God's grace, a huge amount was covered by my father's insurance, senior discounts and PhilHealth support. The operation expense was solved, and now the dialysis expense is the next one we have to face. My father is already a senior citizen, and should already retire by now. He should just be resting and enjoying the fruit of his labor but he can't, because he can't depend on my salary to cover for mother's dialysis and our bills. And as a 29 year old daughter, it's just so frustrating seeing your mother sick and your father still working hard at his age.

HER STORY

My name is Jazel. I'm the eldest among my 6 siblings. You could say I'm a strong woman, but I easily cry. After I graduate, I worked as a call center agent. After a while, I decided to pursue the profession of my bachelor's course. I became an HR personnel and that's where I met Fabs. I took the job not minding the salary rate because it really didn't matter to me. I was a happy and contented person. Having foods on our table is already enough to make us happy. We don't want much, we don't even have a TV. That's how contented we are. You could say we are on the middle class family. We had enough and we are healthy, that's what matters most. But then the time came when that contentment and peacefulness is shattered. My mother felt body pain all over. We thought it was just a common flu that can be cured after taking medicine and enough rest, but we were wrong. One night, my mother kept on vomiting that even walking was already too hard for her. We brought her to the doctor, hoping that it was just some minor flu, only to be informed by the doctor that both her kidneys were already damaged and she had to undergo dialysis treatment.

I didn't know how to face this kind of situation. I remained strong though I was crumbling inside. My parents and my siblings were already so down, and I can't afford letting them see that I'm breaking down as well, so I cried alone in private. My mother initially didn't want to undergo the treatment. She just wanted to wait for her time to go because she didn't want to be a bother, but we need her, we need our mother. Regardless, I still find ways to support her operation. I went to a lot of government agencies, you name it, I've been there. My mother saw how we were trying, and so she started fighting for her life as well. After we discharged from hospital, we tried everything. We even tried the quack doctors, hoping not to undergo the operation but nothing works. The only thing to do is to proceed with the operation. In God's grace, our company allowed me to borrow funds and all the government agencies I went to wsas a success and we survived the expense of the operation. The next thing is my mother's dialysis treatment for 3 times a week.

OUR STORY

I have mentioned before how our similarities is almost mind blowing. Several months after Jazel's mother was diagnosed with CKD, my mother was too. The operations they have undergone was the same. When she has problems with her love life, I have too. We would have matching outfits even without planning to. It's just so crazy how our stars align. We have no idea why wemet, why similarities are insane but all we know is everything has a reason. And we will always be there for each other through up and downs. And now together, we are humbly knocking on your kind hearts to help us in funding for both our mother's dialysis needs. We want them to live longer, wait for us at the altar when we get married, hear our child's first cry, witness our child's first steps. And we need your help to make all this happen.
