Time to plant/ Tiempo de plantar

To my dear friends in Christ:

Just three months ago, I received God’s calling to be the pastor of a small church here in Juarez, Mexico; this calling was indeed a tremendous blessing for my spiritual life. I quickly learned that leading an entire Christian congregation turned out to be a huge challenge that the Lord put into my hands. However, I am willing to give my life to help the church of Christ grow in this part of the world no matter the cost. After being ordained, I realized the many needs not only spiritual, but materialistic as well.The church is in great need of a new roof. Every church service, when raining, we have water leaks, so we decided to reconstruct the entire roof. I put all my savings along with contributions from members to construct the new roof. We continue working on fundraising activities in order to purchase additional materials needed to complete the roof. We have strong faith that our Lord Jesus Christ will provide.

I have had to sleep in one of the church’s rooms to take care of the materials because the church’s ceiling is still open, so it has to be guarded from intruders. One night while sleeping in the church’s office, it started to rain, and of course, because there is no ceiling, the church soon became a pool. I woke up and started to pray and the Lord spoke to me and told me to ask and knock on doors and He will provide.

As the Apostle Paul said, “ I know both how to be abased, and I know how to abound: everywhere and in all things I am instructed both to be full and to be hungry, both to abound and to suffer need. I can do all things through Christ who strengthens me. Notwithstanding ye have well done, that ye did communicate with my affliction. Now ye Philippians know also, that in the beginning of the gospel, when I departed from Macedonia, no church communicated with me as concerning giving and receiving, but ye only. For even in Thessalonica ye sent once and again unto my necessity. Not because I desire a gift: but I desire fruit that may abound to your account. Philippians 4:12-17 This account were the souls that were saved by Paul’s ministry with the help of the Philippians, in other words just by providing to Paul’s ministry they were abounding for their heavenly account. As the Apostle Paul, I strongly encourage you to abound to your heavenly account by helping others in Christ.”

Recently, our city has been hosting thousands of immigrants from South America. The church is very involved in community service by providing the word of God to the immigrants in a shelter which hosts about 70 people. Although it is a small church, we are hosting and helping a family from Honduras, they receive the word of God and are new members of our family in Christ. This group has included other immigrants who have already departed to the United States through the legal process.

In closing, I would like to mention that any help you can give us will be greatly appreciated. I am certain the Lord will bless any contributions made to his great commision.

A mis queridos amigos en Cristo:

Hace solo tres meses, recibí el llamado de Dios para ser el pastor de una pequeña iglesia aquí en Juárez, México; Este llamado fue de hecho una tremenda bendición para mi vida espiritual. Rápidamente aprendí que dirigir una congregación cristiana entera resultó ser un gran desafío que el Señor puso en mis manos. Sin embargo, estoy dispuesto a dar mi vida para ayudar a la iglesia de Cristo a crecer en esta parte del mundo sin importar el costo. Después de ser ordenado, me di cuenta de las muchas necesidades no solo espirituales, sino también materialistas. La iglesia tiene una gran necesidad de un nuevo techo. Cada servicio de la iglesia, cuando llueve, tenemos fugas de agua, por lo que decidimos reconstruir todo el techo. Puse todos mis ahorros junto con las contribuciones de los miembros para construir el nuevo techo. Continuamos trabajando en actividades de recaudación de fondos para comprar materiales adicionales necesarios para completar el techo. Tenemos una fuerte fe en que nuestro Señor Jesucristo nos proveerá.

Tuve que dormir en una de las habitaciones de la iglesia para cuidar los materiales porque el techo de la iglesia todavía está abierto, por lo que debe protegerse de los intrusos. Una noche, mientras dormía en la oficina de la iglesia, comenzó a llover y, por supuesto, como no hay techo, la iglesia pronto se convirtió en una piscina. Me desperté y comencé a orar, y el Señor me habló y me dijo que pidiera y llamara a las puertas y Él proveerá.

Como dijo el apóstol Pablo: “Sé cómo ser humillado y cómo abundar: en todas partes y en todas las cosas se me instruye tanto para estar lleno como para tener hambre, tanto para abundar como para sufrir necesidad. Puedo hacer todas las cosas a través de Cristo que me fortalece. A pesar de que has hecho bien, que te comunicaste con mi aflicción. Ahora bien, los filipenses saben también que al comienzo del evangelio, cuando partí de Macedonia, ninguna iglesia se comunicó conmigo en relación con dar y recibir, sino solo con ustedes. Porque aun en Tesalónica habéis enviado una y otra vez a mi necesidad. No porque desee un regalo, sino que deseo fruto que pueda abundar en su cuenta. Filipenses 4:12 - 17 Esta cuenta fueron las almas que fueron salvadas por el ministerio de Pablo con la ayuda de los filipenses, en otras palabras, simplemente al proporcionar al ministerio de Pablo abundaban por su cuenta celestial. Como apóstol Pablo, te animo a que abundes en tu cuenta celestial ayudando a otros en Cristo ".

Recientemente, nuestra ciudad ha acogido a miles de inmigrantes de América del Sur. La iglesia está muy involucrada en el servicio comunitario al proporcionar la palabra de Dios a los inmigrantes en un refugio que alberga a unas 70 personas. Aunque es una iglesia pequeña, estamos organizando y ayudando a una familia de Honduras, ellos reciben la palabra de Dios y son nuevos miembros de nuestra familia en Cristo. Este grupo ha incluido a otros inmigrantes que ya se han ido a los Estados Unidos a través del proceso legal.

Para terminar, me gustaría mencionar que cualquier ayuda que nos puedan brindar será muy apreciada. Estoy seguro de que el Señor bendecirá cualquier contribución hecha a su gran comisión.
