This summer in Ecuador, as part of a community project a group of us helped at a primary school and nursery in the rural village of San Clemente, near Otavalo in Northern Ecuador. Most of the children there are unable to continue education past secondary school becuase they simply cannot afford to. It makes me so frustrated to think that children cannot pursue their dreams and make the most of their abilities just becuase of money.
We stayed in one of the local's houses in San Clemente, and whilst we were there they taught us their way of life. I have so much respect for every single family who lives like this, working together and making the most of every single moment- despite it being harder than most of us back here could ever anticipate. Their kindness is the reason I want to donate all the money raised by doing Stroud half marathon to the Village Education Project. People like this deserve to be given the opportunity to make their life better, and education is a vital way of doing that.
This charity works in impoverised communities around Otavalo, including San Clemente. The link to their website is here http://www.villageeducation.org/
Thankyou so much:)
