The Rex fund – please help the sweetest diabetic dog survive!

We are raising money for Rex, a sweet 9 year old diabetic dog that we rescued 8 months ago from near death, in order to continue paying for his paid hospitality and help him survive! Unfortunately, nobody wants to adopt him!

Rex was left to die tied up under a tree. Weak, sick and looking like a skeleton. But miracles happen, and so one happened for him too.

We found him, sued his `'owners`'and took him away from them, took care of his various problems caused by pure neglect and malnutrition, and after many months and much effort, we made him a happy dog. Unfortunately one of his conditions is lifelong and it is diabetes. With two insulin injections per day and some innovative monitoring by his super vet, his condition is fully manageable.

Although he is now transformed into the dog he always was under all the misery - happy, cuddly, and very sociable with dogs and people - nobody has wanted to adopt him all these months, no matter how much we have tried (we have even taken him to a famous TV program. It seems like noone is willing to adopt a not perfectly healthy dog! :(

At the moment, and for the last months, he is very happy living in paid hospitality, which every month costs a considerable amount of money, in addition to all his living and medication costs (in total 500 euros/month). Where he is at, he is a happy, free dog, living with other dogs and cats in beautiful outdoor surroundings and indoor cozy ones, with a great carer, but all this does not come for free.

As we are an animal welfare association looking after many animals, with limited resources, in a small island of the Aegean Sea ,unfortunately, soon enough, if we are unable to receive some financial help to keep covering his living costs, Rex will have to go to a free shelter and live in a cage for the rest of his life. Something that breaks our heart even thinking about it, after all that he has been through!

Please help us keep Rex in his current living conditions for as long as needed, with the hope that one day he will be adopted. Until then, we rely on you to continue providing for the daily miracle to his poor doggy fate!
