Campaign Story
Believe it or not, Steve and I (and not forgetting Paul Fletcher, yes really!!) are going Sober for October in aid of Archangel Michael Hospice in Paphos! It's already 9th October and all is well... Please donate, however little, to encourage us and to support this hard working and very well deserving cause, thank you!!
Please take time to read a little about the Hospice...
The Archangel Michael Hospice offers free palliative care for people with any life limiting condition including cancer and other serious illnesses such as Motor Neurone Disease, heart failure, end stage respiratory and kidney disease. All are welcome, whatever their background, race, religion, lifestyle or the nature of the illness.
The Hospice is situated in the tranquil Paphos village of Mesa Chorio, and occupies the top floor of a 5000 square metre dedicated building with a capacity for expansion when the needs arises. It houses the only medical wing in Cyprus that provides care specifically for children.
Opened in July 2015, the initial cost of €2.1m was largely raised by a team of enthusiastic volunteers. The Hospice now faces annual operating costs of around €300,000. It is managed by Trustees who between them have extensive expertise in business, marketing, healthcare and finance.
The main challenge facing the Trustees of the Hospice is ensuring that they can consistently offer the high quality care that their patients deserve, supplied by highly qualified medical staff and enthusiastic volunteers in support roles. Also to ensure sufficient funds are always available to make possible that level of care.
The hospice provide care for people from the point at which their illness is diagnosed as terminal, to the end of their life, however long that may be.The hospice places a high value on dignity, respect, and the wishes of the patient, providing for medical, emotional, social, practical, psychological, and spiritual needs, as well as the needs of family and carers.
Please help us to help them :-)
