The old lady in Daang Hari

Update posted by Seth Howell Banez On Nov 15, 2018

English translation:

I was waiting for Lola in her known place for 2 weeks, until this day (November 15, 2018), I found her again waving her car towels beside the busy road of Daang Hari. I immediately looked for a parking and walked towards her. We had a 30 minutes good talk and I can see in her eyes, how happy she was (to have someone to talk with). On our talk, she shared to me that her name is Porfiria Ramos and she is already 88 years old. She has 7 children which she took care up until now. She also told me that her husband died early and she raised their kids alone. She is from Negros Occidental. She mentioned to me that she is living by herself since her kids already have their own home. I asked Lola Porifira what do she needs, if she needs any medical attention and she told me that before, she was drinking medicine for her high blood. Praise God, her high blood is already contained and she doesn't need to drink her maintenance medicine. Now, she is drinking her vitamins and Cetirizine to cure her allergies. While we are talking, vehicles were passing by including large trucks. Smokes from the vehicles are being inhaled by Nanay. She also mentioned that DSWD once asked her to come to their facility and live there, however she insisted that her family is within his "barangay" and she can still manage to sell on her own. Before I left, I simply asked her what she wants for Christmas and I was surprised with her response "Whatever you will give. I will not ask for more. I don't need plenty of clothes and handful of food, since I am living by myself." Before I left, she thank me, wishes me goodluck and she also asked God to bless me more.
