The Need to Read!

My students need high interest books such as The Harry Potter Series, Dr. Seuss collections, the Blueford series, and other literary books so they may gain a deeper interest in reading and be successful in our class.

My Students

As educators we have a deep love for reading, and we strive to instill that same love for reading in our students. What we've come to learn is that students are engaged more into reading when they have a high quality, high interest book in their hands.

Our school is a public school located in a small island in Davao del Norte. We do have library and a little room called Reading Clinic, wherein Reading remediations happen. Apparently, our books are limited, bulky, and way older that our students. Most of the books were donated are for Language / Grammar. We are very thankful for the donors so we are using the books as much as we can. Yet, we needed more books to entertain and lead our students to reading.

The good news is that our school and our students are striving for excellence daily. Our concern is that we've grown (population wise) faster than we're able to attain the resources. 2331 students to be precised. Many of our students lost the desire to read, because they haven't received the fundamentals that would cause them to be successful readers. We have several initiatives within our curriculum to improve our student's reading, but we know we'll have even greater success with quality books they'll enjoy!

My Project

My project is to ask for everyone's generous donations in funding for requested books, beautification of the reading clinic, and television, our students will be able to have fun books for their independent reading times. Our hopes are also that their vocabulary and critical thinking skills will increase.

The books in our particular Reading Clinic will restore the joy of reading to our less zealous students.
