An Environmental and Social Endeavour to collect and utilize the inevitable discarded waste, to prevent waste entering our (local) environments, to create jobs for the local communities and offset quarrying activities.
Located in Hua Hin, Prachuab kiri khan, Thailand.
The Eco-Brick aims to collect all non-biological, non-food waste such as plastics, electronics and the typical items that generally do not end up in the recycling bins, reduce this waste to an appropriate size to use as a filler in our Eco-Brick shells.
The Eco-Bricks can then be utilized in permanent structures like walls, sheds, garages or homes in-place of regular bricks.
The Eco-Brick will require only waste for the filler material, the waste can be collected from many sources such as Schools, Shopping centers, Factories, Shops, bins and of course from road side collections and clean-up programmes such as Trash Hero's and other community actions.
But its not just about bricks and waste...
Employees will be inevitable, given that it will be minimum wage it would then follow that very-local people will be employed, anyone is an employable option, no education requirements, no status requirements, no age requirements, no health requirements, so all those who would consider themselves unemployable, will be Employable!
Housing can be offered on-site, to the employees, this could be a game changer for many who have been living on the street or in temporary accommodation, Using The Eco~Brick to build simple dwellings as a demonstration of use and viability on site will not only be for the staff but also to demonstrate viability of The Eco~Brick.
Recycling other materials;
It will be quite likely that items with an existing recycling value like glass and plastic bottles, metals etc. will be collected amongst 'our' waste, these items can be identified easily and stored/sold to the traditional places.
Franchise the concept;
The equipment/machinery and The Eco~Brick 'shells' can all be sold to other eco entrepreneurs, so they can set up in other communities.
