Tatau Island School Library

Tatau island is part of the Tabar group of islands in the remote north east of Papua New Guinea. 
The island has no electricity, no roads or vehicles, and no running water. We sustain ourselves by fishing and growing our own foods. The primary school on Tatau Is. has about 170 students with five teachers. Grades 3 to 7 share four class rooms. We hope to provide another class room for grade 8 next year.

As the result of a donation given last year we were able to begin a library building which is almost completed. Further donations will enable us to complete the building, obtain inside shelving and furniture and begin book collection. Stage 2 will be to provide the children with  access to computers.
