Tanja Bindemann, long time resident and owner of Red Tomato restaurant will be running different virtual marathons in 2020 from Langkawi to raise funds for WOOFF Langkawi.
Tanja’s marathon story began properly 2 years ago when she signed up for the first Runkawi and completed 21km. She’d always been a swimmer and runner, but that took a 20 year hiatus as she dedicated her time to raising her son as well as running her restaurant. Taking part in Runkawi sparked her to put on her shoes again and since then, she has been steadily improving her half marathon runtime. Due to the global current situations all runs are now converted to virtual runs, and Tanja has completed so far the 21KM for Gold Coast Marathon, 21KM for Sydney Marathon and recently the 21KM for Berlin Marathon. The next will be a challenging and never attempted before 42KM for the London Marathon.
World of Our Furry Friends (WOOFF) aka Persatuan Pencinta dan Pemulihan Haiwan Malaysia is a registered animal NGO on the beautiful island of Langkawi. Jeffery Tan, the founder and sanctuary caretaker of WOOFF is dedicated to the welfare and rehabilitation of our island furry strays. Currently WOOFF sanctuary houses 100 dogs and 18 cats, with many of them undergoing rehabilitation. WOOFF is also embarking on a bigger project with the local government to manage the Langkawi stray population and health through sterilization, vaccination, education and rehabilitation programmes.
