Sürmeli was a stray cat who was born in one of the islands in Istanbul, Turkey until one day she came to our door and choose to live with us. She is 4 years old and is recently diagnosed with a deadly viral disease called FIP (feline infectious peritonitis). This was a disease that had resulted in certain death for cats until a near past. But now, a treatment way has been developed and help is on the way and available for cat family. For this treatment, an antiviral called GS441524 that was developed and produced for humans, is being used and the results are very promising. As mentioned in the video, we, with our whole heart, wish to provide this treatment opportunity to Sürmeli but this special medicine is produced abroad (not in Turkey) and is way too expensive for us to cover its cost.

She has to get her shots for 12 weeks (84 days) every day and one vial of medicine lasts for only two days. We started the treatment process on our own budget. Surmeli has started her treatment with 4 vials, which will be enough medicine for only 8 days. She immediately got more energetic, her appetite is already better and recovering in a fast pace. With our vet we’ve also been observing that she is getting better.

SÜRMELİ YAŞAMAK İSTİYOR

Sürmeli Kınalıada’da doğmuş bir sokak kedisiydi. Ta ki kapımıza gelerek bizimle yaşamayı seçene kadar. 4 yaşında. Ve çok kısa bir süre önce ölümcül bir viral hastalık olan FIP teşhisi kondu. Bu hastalık yakın bir geçmişe kadar, kediler için kaçınılmaz olarak ölümle sonuçlanan bir hastalıktı. Fakat artık geliştirilmiş bir tedavi yöntemi var. Bu tedavide insanlar için üretilmiş olan GS441524 içerikli bir antiviral denenmekte ve umut verici sonuçlar alınmakta.

Sürmeli’ye bu tedavi şansını verebilmeyi tüm kalbimizle istiyoruz.

Kendi imkanlarımızla tedavi sürecini başlattık. 4 şişe yani 8 gün yetebilecek ilaçla Sürmeli her gün iğnesini olmaya başladı. Şimdiden daha canlı ve daha iştahlı. Bu ilacın ona yardımcı olduğunu veterinerimizle gözlüyoruz.
