Supporting Patrick Mendoza’s Fight for Life

My brother is currently undergoing his first cycle of chemotherapy in Philippine General Hospital. Please keep him in your prayers 🤲🏻

He is Patrick M Mendoza, 33 years old, single, living in Philippines. Patrick is a college undergraduate and working as a waiter earning just minimum average wage for almost a year now,

Last July 20, 2023, he was sent to hospital due to continuous diarrhea and severe pain on the rectum area that according to patrick it was started since may this year and after a fecalysis, it was tested positive for amoebiasis, antiprotozoal and antibiotics was given for 10 days but his diarrhea was persistent so his attending physician requested for CTScan of whole abdomen and found out that there's a mass near his rectum. And because of his unresolved diarrhea, poor appetite and drastic weight loss, his attending physician referred him right away to Colorectal Surgery at Philippine General Hospital.

After the assessment of his surgeon, he requested for immediate admission to perform series of test and procedure to rule out the malignancy. After 3 weeks for OR schedule he was admitted on October 12 at Philippine General Hospital and underwent on CTScan of whole abdomen, colonoscopy and collected a sample for biopsy, few days after the surgeon discussed the need of colostomy to relieve the bowel obstruction on his rectum that caused him so much pain. Nephrostomy was also performed to drain urine straight from his kidney. After few weeks of waiting, his surgeon informed us the result of the biopsy which is really heartbreaking because it is malignant. We have a family history of cancer, my older brother just died of cancer (non hodgkin's lymphoma) 11 years ago. I'm his sister , currently working here at Saudi Arabia Last June 2023 I was diagnosed of Immature Teratoma at my right ovary and completed three session of chemotheraphy.

We will not give up on him and will do everything for him to be back to normal status. However, we cannot do this alone as our family now is financially drained for accommodating his hospital bills, series of tests and operations.

Currently, my brother is still admitted at PGH and under observation. Afterwards he will undergo chemotherapy, radiation and surgery and his surgeon discussed the whole course of treatment will cost around 300,000 pesos which we don't know how and where will get the funds.

We are turning to the kindness and generosity of our friends and extended family to help us raise the funds necessary to give Patrick the best possible chance at recovery.
