I have some sad news!
There have been terrible floods in different villages in the Himalayan region of Nepal due to the heavy monsoon. My own village, loved by tourists a lot, is now flooded! The swelling river has swept away houses, lands and displaced hundreds of families including mine. (Video Clip)
Everyone is sheltering at a nearby forest waiting for rescue which has been difficult due to the monsoon. Rescue process is also undermined because of the flooding occurring simultaneously in different part of the Nepal. But the main problem is what about those who don’t have a second home in a safer place like in a city where they can move to after the helicopter rescue? Maybe there will be makeshift shelter for them but for how long can they live like this? Their homes are near the river and have been there for ages but from now on it’s unlivable because the threat from the river and the landslide is always there. What about the poor families who have nowhere to go? Worst of all, one, the monsoon has just started and two, there is a lockdown in place and the second-wave of Covid-19 is still at its peak.
I have promised to adjust three small kids from the village at my place in the city once they are dropped here by the military rescue helicopter, until I can figure out something. I want to help the affected people more. And I and the people I will be coordinating with at the ground, need your support. The displaced families will need food, shelter and hope. And quickly! Please support however you can.
I am sending this personal-fundraiser out to my network, and I promise that I will personally be in touch with you again with the updates.
