Support to Ukrainian refugees – free legal and psychological assistance

HelpUkraine project is created by the Freedom Institute to address the needs of Ukrainian refugees coming to Poland.

All the funds gathered within this fundraising campaign will be used to finance the Freedom Institute activities under which free-of-charge help is to be arranged for Ukrainians coming to Poland.

Many law firms and psychological support centers offered their help to the Ukrainian refugees. However, these offers are often dispersed and information about them might be difficult to access for Ukrainian citizens. What is more, the emotional state of refugees, war trauma, communication and language barriers can significantly compromise the chances of accessing real and adequate support.

The Freedom Institute’s project fills the above ‘gap’ by setting up a start-up in the form of a marketplace and assistance center for contacts between Ukrainian citizens and specialists who offer free legal and psychological support. Based on technological solutions and the involvement of our members and volunteers, we created a hotline and a face-to-face service that will allow us to really take care of a given person during the process of obtaining help, so as to orientate it towards long-term results.

The funds will be used only to ensure the operation of the center and will be used, inter alia, for salaries of our hotline consultants. So far, the center has been operating thanks to the voluntary work of the team and partners involved.

Using available infrastructure and our help-line, our volunteers will connect Ukrainians with professionals who can support them by:

• legal issues: such as filling in official documents, legalisation of their staying in Poland, other legal assistance
• psychological services or assistance in arranging meeting with mental health center
• assistance in meeting their basic needs, such as: opening up a bank account, purchase of tickets, public transport's subscription, looking for a job, writing resume and many more.
