Greetings all,

Thank you in advance for listening to my story. I hope you will consider helping me raise the funds to attend my dream school.

As many people here I believe that the key to make your life really unique and worthwhile is to share what you know, because sharing has a certain unique magic of its own.

My name is Anastasia, and I would like to foster the development of space architecture. I am a student of an architectural university in the city of Novosibirsk, Russia. This year I am getting a bachelor's degree in Urban Planning. In order to get familiarazed with my activities, please follow the link: https://issuu.com/anastasiaprosina/docs/portfolio_one-page

Not long ago, my colleagues and I have started a project of deployable habitat on Mars. The proposed habitat's ultralight origami and tensegrity design allows it to autonomously deploy ~580 times its stowed size for compact transport on a rocket. By utilizing the Martian atmosphere and regolith it can also produce breathable air, drinking water, and building materials for infrastructure and radiation shielding. The initial stage has already been done, the subsequent stages are a more detailed study and prototyping of the model. With this project, we participate in the Marstopia competition dedicated to a definition of Martian Vernacular design. The project: http://www.salazarigami.com/marstopia/

Recently I learned about my admission to the Space Architecture based on the University of Houston. The Sasakawa International Center for Space Architecture (SICSA) is a unique interdisciplinary research, design and teaching academic center that supports the world's only Master of Science (MS) degree in Space Architecture. In this case, it would contribute to the long-term development of the project mentioned above.

In order to fulfill a visa requirement, I need to raise $27,988 amount. I faced so many issues to get admitted to US universities. First of all, there is my only first year of intense studying English. I have taken a TOEFL for 4 times in a row, retaken GRE twice. In general, I've got admitted to 2 out of 3 schools I applied, to the University of Houston, and the next one is UCLA, the one of the most prestigious architecture school in the world, but my TOEFL score did not meet a minimum only for 5 points.

In the future, I want to develop space architecture through education, as well as create a company that combines the aesthetics of architecture and utilitarian engineering. To continue working on this project, I need financial support to cover the program tuition.

Throwing back, I have become an architect surprisingly. When I was 7 years old, I had a dream of becoming an architect in further, but it seemed to be impossible. When I was a child, I decided: "I will be happy if people around me are happy". I still think this way.

I assumed that my dream of becoming an architect will never come true. I come from a simple family. My mother is a paramedic, my father is an auto-mechanic but now he is not able to work. I was born, grew up and lived for 18 years in the small town of Kemerovo which is known as coal capital of Siberia. While studying at High School, I made a decision to study journalism or philology after graduation, so I was preparing during the last 5 years by participating at scientific literature-oriented conferences and won a few Olympiads in Russian language, World Art, and Literature.

At the last moment, during my final exams at school, I changed my mind about studying journalism or philology and decided to study architecture at Novosibirsk, which was my dream. Finally, I was accepted into the highly-competitive field with a 20% acceptance ranking. I was a weak freshman with low grades because I did not study architecture previously as my fellow students did. But I soon surpassed many of students. I was always seeking a favorable environment to study in because the most interest can be captured in a competitive collective group. Unfortunately, I was faced with an issue at my university that when you think about architecture overtaking time, a majority of people take you as a fool.

I hope to get into a favorable environment surrounded by passionate architects. I will put a vivid experience in the international and interdisciplinary group with advanced technologies. That is why I need to raise $27,988 to be enrolled the Sasakawa International Center for Space Architecture that is the best fit for me.

Thank you for taking the time to learn more about me, and letting me influence the future of humankind by your help!

I would be so encouraged to accept any help until the May 2018 end.

Sincerely,

Anastasia Prosina
