ISKCON has been incorporated in Dublin since 1980, at first starting at Belvedere street then moved to Abbey Street. Our Temple in Abbey Street is open to the public 365 days a year for either private Darshan (worship) or public programs.
For 52 weeks of the year, every Sunday, we have our regular Sunday love feast which has become an essential element in the spiritual well-being of all our members. It is our main weekly event and often brings up to a hundred people to Krishna's Temple. The Tuesday night Kirtan often attracts more than 40 souls and has also become an integral part in the spiritual life of so many.
ISKCON Dublin owns a temple building in Central Dublin.
We were leasing a 4400 square feet, app. 400 square metres building for the last 12 years. It is 4 floors over basement with Govindas Restaurant on the ground and basement, supporting our temple upstairs. We recently installed a new fire protection system which allows us to have our temple upstairs. At some point last year, the owner wanted to sell the building for just over 1 million euro and we had the opportunity to buy the building. The building itself is located 50 metres from Dublin's principle street so it was a once in a lifetime opportunity. With support from dear devotees and loan from london ISKCON temples, we managed to successfully buy the temple for Krishna but we still have a €50,000 load to pay. So far we collected €19,100 and are humbly requesting friends and devotees to keep donating to help us to finish paying up the loans.
And thanking you in advance and thanks to all devotees and friends who has helped us so far.
