Mujahed Khallaf is a master student at NTNU, Faculty of Architecture and Fine Art in Trondheim, Norway, who was going to the last year of his Master Studies after the summer break. He has recently received a rejection to his application for continued residency in Norway, which means that he will be unable to complete his master studies at NTNU during the coming academic year.
The ground for rejection of his application are based upon an assessment of his economic circumstances, but as a Palestinian he carries the Nationality “stateless“ (see his recent artwork on this in the pictures) and has, as other international students might have, no resource to scholarships or other forms of study support. Efforts are now being made to help him find suitable support in order that he can continue his studies and graduate in spring 2017.
In case Mujahed cannot proof the amount of 100.920 NOK (about 10.000,-Euro) in his bank account within the next two weeks he will have to leave the country by August 31st, 2016. The proof of this money is the only way Norwegian authority accepts his stay as a “stateless“ person.
Lawyers, colleagues from the Trondheim Kunstmuseum where Mujahed is working during this summer and friends are now trying to help investing in his case and started the idea of this fundraising project.
What we need to do:
There is only two weeks now, in which Mujahed can appeal against his case. If not, he has to leave the country and go back to Palestine by August 31st, 2016 without finishing his Master of Fine Arts! The appeal is only valid if he can proof enough money. Any support could make a difference now in the appeal of his case at UDI, the Norwegian Visa Department. Please show your support by funding.
