Support the Arts, END Illegal Migration!

Mediterranean migrant arrival reached 171,635 and deaths reached 3,116 in 2017 - International Organization for Migration (IOM).Perturbing enough, this death toll has proportionately increased from 1.6 percent to 2 percent in 2018, from a New UN Report on African Migration to Europe in 2019.

TARP is a project intended to use mainly theatre, and film to develop, promote, and sustain the arts industry in Ghana; relying on the expertise of industry greats and to a larger extent, Ghanaian youth, and returnees for first-rate productions, to achieve a vibrant arts industry while:

Empowering and creating more jobs.

Building capacity and adding value to human capital.

Curbing illegal migration and Brain drain.

Promoting tourism and investment.

Championing Socioeconomic development.

Dear all,

My name is Genevieve, an arts enthusiast from Ghana, with 20 years of arts exposure, and with consultation from Prime Verge Consult and PhilmsPharms Productions.

Piracy of intellectual property and creative works is increasingly on the rise, lack of access to funding, and right policies and infrastructure for the arts; the repercussion, a revenue siphoning culture, stalled arts and production initiatives, growing (youth) unemployment, illegal migration, brain drain, a dying arts industry, and an overall lag in national development.

It therefore, is a passion call to launch out this all important initiative, THE ARTS RENAISSANCE PROJECT (TARP). This seeks to develop, promote and sustain the theatre, film and arts industry in Ghana, by partnering fully with like-minded people and institutions, spearheading a conscious and consistently progressive hub, while engaging the masses to fully understand theatre, film and the arts, its capabilities and unwavering role, as well as potential towards national development in general.

Thus, the main project anchor is to spearhead professionally organised, highly promoted, and patronized major theatre productions at big seater capacity venues, while employing the expertise of industry greats, as well as the youth, and returnees in the capacity of managers and performers. This will be held biannually, interspersed with active participatory theatre engagements across the various regions of Ghana for job creation as well as promoting the culture of theatre value and acceptance;the success of which culminates into:

Achieving our Ultimate goal of an Arts Renaissance, tasked with the promotion of arts mainly through theatre and film, as well as effective policy advocacy for a vibrant arts industry, an engine for socioeconomic development.

Secondly, Job creation, human capital building and sustenance.

Also, Youth empowerment, curbing illegal migration and brain drain.

Moreover, effectively utilizing the human capital of the Ghanaian youth, and returnees throughout this project, empower them economically, and help returnees smooth reintegration into the society, to avert the possibility of pursuing illegal migration which endanger their lives, that of their families, and is a potential brain drain to Ghana's human capital.

This goes to contribute immensely towards curbing global illegal migration, a menace which suffocates the financial pockets of world economies. It also helps enrich and add greater value to Ghana's human capital base through business skills acquisition and capacity building.

This Project is a herculean task which comes hand in hand with huge financial hurdles running into millions, but when there is a will, there certainly is a way. Quarterly, (pre) Production cost at the national theatre of Ghana is 300,000 USD, a total of 1,200,000 USD across four quarters in the year. So far, personal funds among other, estimates over 200,000 USD towards the execution of this project, but we still need about 1,000,000 USD by February to complete , and we greatly and urgently need your support; little drops of water make a mighty ocean!

You would be partnering a good course with your financial commitment, as well as your recommendations for assistance for this campaign to enable us reach our target while strictly adhering to our timelines.

Achieving our financial target would help the successful execution and sustenance of this project, covering cost of venue, ticket design and printing, promotion, personnel and training, script printing, set designing, rehearsals, audio visuals, lighting etc. Over the following:

Phase One (October, 2019- February, 2020)

Planning, Budgeting and Funding through crowd funding campaign, as well as personal funding.

Phase Two (March-July, 2020)

Advance Pre-production activities, logistics management, project execution, ticket launch and sales, promotional engagements. Participatory engagements across the 16 regions of Ghana.

Phase Three (August -October, 2020)

Production and performance in Accra at the national theatre. Financial accounting and project review.

YOUR DONATION MEANS ENDLESS POSSIBILITIES!

For every capital invested, our sales indicators confirm recouping up to forty percent (40%) of the total amount within a maximum twelve (12) month period . That is to say, for every one million US dollars (1,000,000 USD) invested, up to four hundred thousand (400,000 before tax) proceeds is guaranteed within a year at most, predominantly through theatre event ticket sales alone. Then, we have sale of arts paraphernalia and customized items, collaborations and partnerships, as well as creative content sales; all excesses.

With such proceeds and project continuity, we would be able to absorb (by way of on and off the job training and employment) one thousand (1000) unemployed youth and returnees monthly (250 weekly) in the greater Accra region of Ghana alone. We have over a hundred (100) trainers and volunteers on hand, each readily capable of training ten (10) people a month, to meet our target number. This makes a whooping number of twelve thousand (12,000) trained and employed youth and returnees yearly in just one region alone.

With more financial commitments, and frequency of patronized productions, we should be able to replicate this number across the remaining fifteen (15) regions of Ghana in the medium to long term as contained in our project plan. Thus, efficiently and effectively absorbing and economically empowering as many as one hundred and ninety two thousand (192,000) of the country's unemployed youth, returnees, and potential illegal migration population yearly, via this all important Arts Renaissance Project. The translation; in the next five (5) years, we should all as project handlers, and financiers pride ourselves on being able to train and employ as many as close to a million youths and returnees; approximately nine hundred and sixty thousand youths and returnees (960,000).

ESTIMATED (PRE)PRODUCTION BUDGET ACROSS TWELVE MONTHS

Preproduction & Miscellaneous- 250,000USD ( 20,833.33 USD monthly x 12)

Venue and Production logistics- 600,000 USD (50,000USD monthly x12)

Cast and Crew-250,000USD (20,833USD monthly x 12)

Promotion and Ticketing - 100,000USD (8,333USD monthly x 12)

Total: 1,200,000USD

Subsequently, a duly endorsed 'thank you' note will be sent after a successful campaign, and production, offering all our cherished funding partners our profound appreciation, as well as timely project updates via suitable media. Why The Arts

There is no better avenue with high employment potential than a well developed arts industry.

Regarding value, theatre and film is perhaps the only profession to engage over one hundred and forty two (142) other professions in every single production.

Theatre, film, and the arts, is a means of preserving a country's history while promoting information, education, socialization, entertainment, and participatory development.

It produce high value human capital, a needed resource for national development.

For every country that has made giant global strides, there is a vibrant, sanitized, ever progressive theatre, film and for that matter, arts industry influencing these heights to a greater extent; projecting a positive national image for tourism and investment, while enriching the lives of its people.

Theatre furthermore, teaches effective self discovery and expression, and can also be a tool through which people with disability can communicate.

Theatre, film and the arts offer creativity. Without a creative voice, any society is likely to be repressive and tyrannical rather than a force for good. Biologists have argued that the formation of creativity is the most important step in development and that society cannot move forward without creative people.
