Support Jennica in Kenya!

Update posted by Terry Stephenson On Dec 20, 2012

I wanted to send a quick note to say thank you from the bottom of my heart to everyone who donated to this campaign. Thanks to your generosity, we raised $5,020 in less than two months to support the great work being done at the Kakenya Center for Excellence. This funding will not only bring the hope of education to underprivileged Maasai girls, but will also empower them with the knowledge and leadership skills to become agents of change in their communities for years to come. I am overwhelmed with gratitude that we were all able to make this happen.

Thanks again for all of your support!

With appreciation,

Terry

P.S. Tonight we'll be surprising Jennica with the news, and I'll be sure to email pictures and post some to Facebook!

We are so close! Please pass this along to anyone and everyone you think might be interested in supporting this great cause. Spreading the word is going to be essential to reaching $5000.

Thanks,

Terry

Friends & Family,

It's been a little over two weeks since we launched our campaign to raise $2500 for the Kakenya Center for Excellence, and thanks to the remarkable generosity of many of you we hit our initial goal after only 9 days!

You may have noticed that I slipped ‘initial’ in front of the word goal up there. After speaking with Jennica and KCE board members over the past week, it’s more apparent than ever that this this campaign of ours is arriving at a critical juncture. The board recently voted to add an entirely new grade to the school, and starting in January the student body will be expanded from grades 4-7 to 4-8. This means 30 new girls who will need uniforms, school supplies and other items. To accommodate the new girls, construction will soon be underway on an extension to the existing schoolhouse. This growth is only possible with sustained support from donors like yourself. That said, our goal has been doubled. We recognize that $5000 is an ambitious mark, but the support exhibited thus far has been beyond our expectations so why not shoot for the stars?!?

As you are contemplating whether or not you have the funds to support this cause, here is some food for thought:

- $25 is enough to provide one girl a complete uniform, including school and play outfits and shoes. Even the smallest amount can have a major impact on the life of a young Maasai girl.

- Your donation will be applied directly to the school's most urgent needs, without interference from the Kenyan government or any other party. There is simply no more efficient means of helping.

- 'Kakenya's Dream' is a designated 501(c)(3) non-profit organization, and your donation is tax deductible.

Thank you again for the outpouring of support. It is a testament to the importance of the KCE mission, and I'm overwhelmed with appreciation. Let's keep it going just a bit further!

Sincerely,

Terry, Suey, & Brianna
