Campaign Story
Act for Life is a youth-led non-profit organisation with a mission to support children and young people make well-informed choices about their future careers and life prospects. Follow the link to read more about us https://www.facebook.com/actforlifegh/. Help us raise $2,500 to provide careers guidance and counselling service for 500 final year pupils in 10 rural Junior High Schools in Ghana.
The final year in junior high school is a critical stage in the educational development of young people aged 14-15 in Ghana - this is where they make educational choices that affect their senior high and post-senior high school education and training. The little or no careers guidance and counselling at this level of education means young people are making ill-informed decisions about their career paths. Young people are not aware of all the educational and career options available and therefore heighten their risk of underemployment or unemployment, with 48% of youth ages 15-24 years currently without jobs according to the World Bank. Many youth are not pursuing modern labour market relevant courses
Pupils in the Ga-West Municipality of the Greater Accra Region are among the worst affected in Ghana, as the majority of the schools are in rural communities and therefore have limited access to crucial careers information.
Your help is needed to raise $2,500 to provide careers guidance and counselling service for 500 final year pupils in 10 rural Junior High Schools through the delivery of 10 informational seminars. If we do not raise this money by 30th November, 2017 , most of these pupils risk not making the best educational choices for onward career development.
