Support A Warrior’s Fight Against Leukemia

Hi! I'm trying to raise funds for my dad's fight against the big C. My dad, Joji, 57 years old, was diagnosed with Acute Myeloid Leukemia, an aggressive type of blood cancer, last April 2020.

He was advised by the doctor to undergo 6 cycles of chemotherapy. With the help of our relatives and friends, he completed his induction chemotherapy last May 2020 and was supposed to proceed with the consolidation phase. However, result of his blood test showed that his cancer has relapsed and he would need to undergo induction chemotherapy again.

He was admitted to the hospital for his second induction chemotherapy last July 2020. While undergoing treatment in the hospital and during the nadir period (the point at which blood cell counts are at their lowest after a chemotherapy treatment), he had severe pneumonia and tested positive for COVID-19. He was in critical condition for almost a week while he battled both leukemia and COVID-19. After weeks of struggle in battling COVID-19, he was able to recover and was cleared for discharge from the hospital. Discharging him from the hospital was another challenge for us family members since the total hospital bill reached 1.1 million pesos. Although his health insurance, person with disability (PWD) discount and medical assistance from government were able to cover almost half of the total hospital bill, the payment for the remaining balance of half a million pesos is still too much for us since our saving and funds have already been depleted during his previous chemotherapy session and in buying his medicines.

My dad is a trooper, a fighter and a warrior. He was able to survive COVID-19 despite his immunocompromised condition. He remains steadfast with courage and strength to battle Leukemia. His will to survive and fight for his life continue to inspire us everyday. That's why I want to do everything I can to help him win this fight. Given the financial situation of our family and the current COVID-19 pandemic which depleted our resources, my father may not be able to complete the remaining cycles of his treatment due to financial constraints.

This fundraising is more than just an appeal for financial support but also a seed of hope and life anew for my dear father and our whole family as well.
