I'm hoping to travel to the Eastern Cape in South Africa this July to volunteer as part of a humanitarian aid team. The charity I'm supporting is Magis Ireland - a Jesuit young adult ministry based in Gardiner Street. We hope to renovate a church hall, create a garden for old folks and work in a feeding centre. Our project will evolve around the local people, especially orphans and those who are living with HIV.
In order to cover the costs of the project, it would be wonderful if you could sponsor me (Magis is a registered charity).
You might think that travelling to South Africa is much too costly and that I would be better off sending funds to the Eastern Cape instead. However, Magis Ireland focuses on achieving social justice through taking action in the belief that we are all equal in human dignity. To truly show concern and care for those who are marginalised in society, it is important to work with them to show them solidarity (even if it has come all the way from Ireland).
I am appealing to you to support me in this most courageous and exciting endeavour.
