Campaign Story
Smiles for Miles for Fijian Orphanages has been created by myself to raise much needed funds to purchase necessities for the countless orphans in Fiji. As a mother myself, I can't imagine my babies going with out the necessities that many aren't afforded. We often take for granted clean drinking water, clothes, shoes, medicines and protection from the evils life has to offer at times. Imagine your child wearing clothes that are well worn and often inadequate or your child not knowing the luxury of wearing shoes. Imagine your child is sick and having no access to medicines, left to either fight the illness themselves or die trying. This is a reality in many countries. Let's end this nightmare once and for all.
As a nurse, I've dedicated my career to helping others which includes those less fortunate than us, in particular those in developing countries. Fiji is my first destination on a list of many, where I will be volunteering my nursing skills to create 'smiles for miles'. I am honoured and humbled to be given this unique opportunity to learn from the experiences I will endure. I am also using my nursing experience to educate Fijian residents about personal hygiene, disease/illness and how to prevent them spreading as well as educating them on basic first aid. In addition, I am aiming to use money donated to purchase first aid supplies that can be donated to the villages.
All money donated will be used to buy clothing, shoes, toiletries, school supplies, infant formula and equipment, bottled water and first aid supplies
