For all past guests who have experienced the heartfelt hospitality of Siladen Resort & Spa’s wonderful staff, this is a call for your kind support.
For more than 20 years the staff of the small privately owned Siladen Resort & Spa have welcomed guests from all over the world into their hearts and the island they call home.
Over the last 18 months, due to international border closures and local lockdowns, the resort has been forced to close. We have done our best to support our staff and their families as much as possible, keeping as many people as we could employed. Staff have spent the time renovating and maintaining the resort, performing regular beach clean ups and building a sustainable vegetable garden. We have tried to rotate staff throughout this time, and paid everyone enough as much as possible, even those not working, so they can support their families and buy basic essentials.
Since Siladen Resort & Spa opening two decades ago, and also whilst the resort was closed, we donated electricity to the local village to give them power. It is great news, with our encouragement, the Indonesian electricity company provider now supplies electricity to the island on a permanent basis.
Whist the pandemic has impacted all of our lives on an unprecedented scale, and many of us are struggling to keep our own heads above water, most of us also live in developed countries. We are fortunate to be provided with fallback bare basic access to accommodation, healthcare, clean water and food.
In Indonesia, there has been very little financial help from the Government during the lockdown, so we have supported our Siladen family as much as we possibly can.
Resilience only stretches so far and these families are struggling to feed their children and pay their modest bills, even with our help.
Now, with the good news that local lockdowns are being lifted and local business and social visas are being issued, we are hoping to open up again as an approved quarantine hotel, followed in the near future by being able to welcome back our wonderful international guests, once tourist visas are allowed. Already, tourist visas are available for Bali (from 14th October!).
We would love to rebuild most of our team at Siladen (previously 120 staff members), even if we are not yet fully open. Having everyone back at the resort with their regular salaries will allow their families to have a better Christmas (a very special time in Sulawesi).
We believe Indonesia will be re-opening fully for tourism very soon and we would like to be prepared for this, with a team as strong as ever, ready to welcome you, our overseas friends.
We would like to ask whether you could possible help us support those staff who made your stay so much more enjoyable, with their happy smiles and welcoming hospitality.
Any amount you can donate, no matter how small, will make a profound difference to the lives of these very special people and give them a Christmas they truly deserve, and help us to rebuild our team. All funds raised will be distributed with compassion and equity and will go directly to the staff so they can help make ends meet until the resort can reopen again.
As a thank you, we would like to offer you a credit to be used in resort during your next visit with us, of 20% of your donation.
We wish all our friends the very best in these difficult times and we can't wait until we can welcome you be back at beautiful Siladen Island once more.
