Shoes for the Tots

When I was growing up in a small barangay in northern Leyte I have seen kids from the mountain areas going to school in slippers and some even barefooted. They walk miles just to get to school over uneven, muddy, sometimes even rocky terrain. To this day this is still the situation there and in most mountain barangays around the country. It is sad to see and say that the local government does not have a program to help these kids. Their parents strive day in day out sometimes barely even to bring sufficient food for the entire family.

This Christmas season we are planning to give out a few hundred maybe even thousands of pairs of shoes to these children. With shoes they will be protected not only from the dangers of walking on shrubbery mountain sides but also from the illnesses that they might contract.

I am knocking on your kind hearts for assistance on this project. It is the aim of the project to start giving out shoes starting this Christmas season. With your assistance it is our hope to make this a year round program reaching out to as many children as possible.

We are not limiting assistance to monetary funding if you want to donate worn out shoes that can still be used it will be of immense help to bring a smile and good health to these unfortunate kids.
