Campaign Story
I am Francis Ole Moonka and I am a local Maasai man born in the Mara, raised in the Maasai Mara. I have all the experience about the wildlife and Maasai culture. I am currently the Director of Erica-Eco Mara Camp would like to raise fund to help the poor and needy within my community in the Masai Mara.
In the midst of the on-going global pandemic that has brought the nation’s economy on its knees, Erica-Eco Mara Camp has defied all odds by rolling out a weekly feeding program in the surrounding communities for about 6000 household despite all the challenges.
In our program, each household for the next three months will be receiving a packet of maize meal, cooking oil, sugar and a bar of soap to maintain basic hygiene. This community has been heavily relying on tourists that visit the Maasai Mara National Game Reserve but with the closure of airports and livestock yards sale as a measure to control the pandemic, acquiring the most basic of needs such as food has become a challenge in the people surrounding Erica-Eco Mara Camp.
Therefore, being a man of kindness, raised and brought up by this community to where I am today, I had to find an amicable solution to the food crisis that is on-going in my surrounding community of our camp. Not only dive deep into pockets but also, I ask for good friends and various donors or any good wishers to support me in helping to feed community during this difficult times of which it is one way of protecting the wild animals to continue living in present harmony. The Camp plans to start food gardens in the near future so that we could continue to provide food to the society and the surrounding communities as one way of giving back to the community. Our aim is to inspire a mixed community where people, livestock and wildlife co-exist together in harmony.
Thank you for your help.
