I am a 20 year old college student looking into starting a business wherein I will transform thrifted clothing to new and fashionable pieces. I recently bought a second hand sewing machine for Php 5,500 (the money I was able to acquire through a loan) but the machine that was sent to me was broken and it was also having some difficulties in handling thick or heavy fabrics such as denim.
By contributing to this campaign, you can help me buy a sewing machine that's fit to my needs and also help me start my very own business. I want to live an independent life and also help my family during these trying times. This pandemic has made me realize many things and my most valuable realization is that it's never too late or too early to chase after your dream, the best time is NOW. For so long I wanted to do this project but I always get pushed aside by self doubt and that is why I am taking the risk of pursuing my passion even when I am still studying.
The cost of the machine I am eyeing is around $350, I will also use the excess of the proceeds to buy other equipment and materials I would be needing like measuring and cutting materials, sewing machine accessories, threads, as well as thrifted clothes which will serve as my raw materials.
I attached the photos of my current sewing machine which isn't working (JUKI HZL 700), the sewing machine model I am looking into buying (Singer brand), as well as a couple of my finished projects. One is a bucket hat made from denim scraps and the other is a simple baguette bag I made from scrap velour fabric. I know these may not be that much yet but given the chance to have the right equipment for this project will help me learn more and give me the ability to explore this venture.
