Hi, everyone.

My name is Prince Allan Pelayo. I am currently a Ph. D. Mathematics student at the Institute of Mathematics, College of Science, University of the Philippines, Diliman, Quezon City. I finished my master's degree last December 2018. One of the significant outputs I had during the master's program is my master's thesis, entitled "Failed zero forcing, maximum nullity, and other graph parameters." It is an emerging topic in combinatorial matrix theory, also having deep connections with the concept of zero forcing - a tool shown to be useful in linear algebra, graph theory, computer science, quantum mechanics, etc.

Earlier this year, I submitted the abstract of the said study for consideration as a contributed talk in the 22nd Conference of the International Linear Algebra Society (ILAS 2019) to be held in Rio de Janeiro, Brazil from July 8-12, 2019. Last April 8, I got the best news I could ever have as a student researcher. My abstract is accepted for an oral presentation during the conference. It has been one of my ultimate goals to participate in this international conference. I have started studying linear algebra (and combinatorial matrix theory) in 2014 when I was a second-year undergraduate student. Five years later, I am now on my first semester as a doctorate student. My interest in linear algebra keeps growing and growing, and my participation to ILAS 2019 is very important to me for a lot of reasons. First of all, I would like to share my study to other mathematicians around the world. Secondly, the conference will serve as a big opportunity for me to explore other areas of linear algebra as well as to create ties with other researches for possible collaboration in the future.

I am a few steps from achieving my dream. The only hindrance would be financial constraints. Brazil is a country very far from where I reside - the Philippines. Roundtrip airfare from Manila, Philippines to Rio de Janeiro, Brazil alone will cost around 2600$. Other expenses such as registration fee, accommodation, food and transportation within Rio de Janeiro are also needed. While I am looking at the possibility to have my flight and registration fee funded by travel grants offered by our university, I am still not privileged enough to shoulder the remaining expenses. In this regard, I am asking for your support. Help me raise funds to be able to attend the said conference. In total, a sum of Php 35, 000.00 (around 675$) is the expected amount of expenses that might not be covered by the maximum possible amount of funding from travel grants. Any amount of donation will be appreciated.

Thank you so much. No words are enough to express my gratitude for those of you who would donate or share this. Once again, thank you.

Sincerely,

Prince Allan B. Pelayo
