Hi there! I'm Pamela Punzalan , Editor in Chief of Play Without Apology and an admin of Philippine Tabletop RPGs. I'm an indie game designer and community manager, and have been attempting to create safe and inclusive spaces down in the Philippines. PWOA has, since 2012, been busy with providing a platform for geeks - especially video game and ttrpgs players - to talk about their fannish experiences and realities through a queer/feminist lens. Some of you might have seen me talking at mini-conventions - particularly ones organized by Gamers & GMs Philippines, and also at PWOA's own tabletop convention, LacunaCon - and pimping my projects on Patreon , and selling my stuff on Itch !
Through the love and support of friends and family, I managed to get a plane ticket and a fully paid badge for the Big Bad Convention in San Francisco this October. The organizers have also given me a scholarship fund, which is the main reason why I've been able to commit to going to this event. However, I still need funds to subsidize a lot of the remaining travel costs, and ensure that I have money for my own upkeep during the trip. I have been selling my games and pushing my Patreon around, but I've decided to go on this platform as well given the urgency at hand.
Two of the things I will be doing while I am at BBC 2019 is participating in a panel discussion that is all about discussing #RPGSEA (a casual collective of creators and community managers from all around Southeast Asia), and also carrying tabletop roleplaying games and merchandise from indie Philippine game designers. In this sense, I'll be representing people from my end of the pond, and showing the world what we're capable of doing as designers!
Beyond making sure that I can give some love back to the people who have supported me enough to even get to this event in the first place - particularly my parents, who are currently shouldering the bulk of the costs of this trip - giving me funds will enable me to have money on hand for my upkeep, personal funds for the convention itself, and cash on hand for any emergency expenses.
As of September 13: I have also decided that beyond funding my activities for diverse gamers - any extra proceeds to this campaign will go to a fundraiser for purchasing Affinity Publisher licenses for Filipino designers. This fundraiser will likely be an initiative that is going to extend well beyond the period of this campaign - but the sooner I can get started on it with a sizeable amount of income, the better!
Pledging at least 5 USD to this fund will get you a free digital copy of any of my game releases - you choose! 10 USD will get you 2. Anything more than 10 USD will get you all of them. This is my small way of showing my gratitude for lending me your assistance.
For those of you who would rather send money straight to me in some capacity, you may do so through:
+ Paypal, by sending money through this link
+ Buying my games and/or tipping me on my Itch account, thedovetailor
+ Pledging some monthly, gradual support through my Patreon, for some pretty nifty (and lasting!) benefits
BBC 2019 takes place between October 10-13. I'll be in San Fran by October 9, and will be flying out on October 14. I'll need as much support as any of you can give me before the end of September!
