Who You're Supporting:
Shalom, salaam! Hi supporters! My name is Anneke, and I just graduated with my Bachelor of Arts from The Evergreen State College in Olympia, WA. After cultivating the last 4 years, growing and learning about conflict, mediation, and peace-building, and a great deal about the conflicts in the Middle East, I was just accepted into a unique, elite program called Israel Government Fellows.
This program, an initiative of the Menachem Begin Heritage Center, is endorsed by the Office of the Prime Minister of Israel. The internships on the program are in a variety of positions within the Israeli government and relevant non-governmental organizations and Fellows are given direct access to high-level government officials, policy-makers, and influential scholars and activists within the State of Israel. The seminars are given by experts in their field, scholars, and prominent figures in Israeli public life and society. The program encourages professionalism and self-development, while also enabling participants to make a real contribution to the governance of the State of Israel.
This is the last year I can be in this program before I age out, and after several years working on issues relating to peace-building and Israel, specifically, this will be the perfect next step in achieving my goals in life of becoming a mediator and diplomat!
What I Need Your Help With:
The program is expensive, and even with the grants and scholarships I'll be getting from the Begin Center and MASA, I still need your help to reach Jerusalem this September!
The program costs $15,000. While housing and a bus pass in Jerusalem are included in that cost, I need to cover everything else with your help:
$75 will allow me a couple trips via train
$350 gets me cellphone service for a year (required by the program)
$500 will allow me to purchase basic household necessities
$1500 gets me a flight to Israel
$4200 will allow me to buy groceries for the duration of the program (estimated cost)
$8500 is the non-covered portion of the program fee for Israel Government Fellows
This is where you come in... This is an all or nothing, and I can either go on this program, or I can't! The program has already started sending out the CVs of Fellows who've paid the program fees, and mine can't be sent to my preferred internships until my fees are paid. The program begins September 1st, and the sooner this is all paid for and confirmed, the better for everyone involved.
