I am Gerardson Nuezca from Manila, Philippines, a consistent honor student from the first time I stepped into school until college. Due to poverty, I have always been diligent when it comes to my studies and I see to it that I do not waste any scholarship that may be awarded to me and always not to be a burden to my struggling parents.
In October, I have received an absolute offer from the University of Melbourne for a Masters degree in Structural Engineering for 2018. This is a dream come true for me and a big step forward for my career as an engineer. After I finish this, I will definitely be back to my home country hopefully to become a better structural engineer and an educator for aspiring Filipino engineers someday.
I was given a partial scholarship by the university but it does not cover the living expenses. I am planning to get a part time job to support my daily living expenses but I do not know where to get enough starting/establishment allowance like deposit for room rental, plane ticket, visa expenses, etc. I have heard that the cost of living in Melbourne is not cheap at all as compared to Manila.
I am hoping to take the Semester One which will start on February 26, 2018. Any amount from your kind hearts will surely be highly appreciated.
