My father built this house in 1969. He was a striving man, working and pushing until he was a fully independent entrepreneur. In 1992, he passed away from cancer, leaving this house and a commercial property debt free to my mom.
My mom, needing to pay medical bills & funeral costs off as well as raise two more children, mortgaged both assets. After twenty-six years of juggling, borrowing, repaying, catching up, falling behind and doing all she could - my mom succumbed to a hypertensive stroke.
After my mom's sudden death, I am still faced with mountains of debt.
I began renovations, but because of having to end my marriage, things have been financially up and down. My kids and I currently do not live here anymore, the house has been on the market for five years with no interest from anyone to buy. Many times, I have dreamt of finishing the handful of things left to do and renting it and the attached efficiency out. This would allow us much needed additional income as well as something to hand down to my kids.
The goal now is to raise as much funds as possible to pay the full debt off and turn the house and efficiency into two beautiful rentals.
