AND EDUCATION

Introduction:

In our project area there are a number of orphan, semi orphan and street children. The problem of orphan and street children is too high due to the deaths of parents from HIV/AIDS, re-marriage of parents, divorced women, absence of love and security in families, family disputes, unwanted pregnancies of sexually exploited girls; these orphan and street children are left without proper care and support. These children end up engaging themselves in habits like rag picking, pick pocketing, misuse of drugs and alcohol and participating in criminal activities. Therefore, we are dedicated in collecting these children into one building by providing care, support and protection in our ORPHANAGE.

Our Mission:

Mainstreaming the orphan, semi orphan and street children in one home in order to provide care, support and protection through shelter, food, health services and education is our mission.

The Project Overview:

In spite of planned development and special provision for accelerated socio-economic development of the neglected/disadvantaged sections, the issue of orphan, semi orphan and street children is not properly addressed. In our project area many of those children are found. The problem is that these children end up running into streets where by if for example is a girl child many troubles are in their way like rape which leads to STDS, early marriages etc, if it’s a boy child end up involving themselves into drug, abuse stealing and all other criminal activities which may cause death to them and imprisonment etc. Therefore we need to support them show them some love, proper care and give them shelter. The project proposed in this scheme is meant to seek for support to acquire a home, support in running the orphan children home.

Summary

This orphanage home aims to provide care, support and protection for at least 50 orphans and rising. This home is to have 3 care takers, one teacher, one vocational instructor, one cook, one attendant, one watchman, a doctor to conduct health check-ups and providing medicines. All children are to be provided with equal things, equal opportunities for out-door and indoor recreation and play facilities along with training in crafts and hobbies.

What is the issue, problem, or challenge?

The issue of orphan/street children is high due to deaths of HIV/AIDS affected persons, recent pandemic (covid 19), civil wars, re-marriage of widowed/divorced women, absence of love and security, unwanted pregnancies; these orphans are left without proper care and support.

How will this project solve these problems?

We have been identifying orphans, semi orphans and street children, pre-viewing and counseling and we wish to provide lodging and boarding facilities for the children. We will arrange teaching facilities in the nearby schools and provide tuitions, health check-up, medicines, cosmetics, books, uniforms every year. This proposal will cover 50 children and rising.

Potential long term impact.

This project has potential and impact full in main streaming orphan, semi orphan and street children. Their basic needs will be met and they will get new life through gaining knowledge, education, vocational skills and life skills. They will get love and affection as if their parents provides. Their confidence level will increase and become good assets to the community. They will be developed physically, psychologically and be productive citizens. They will show humanity towards the community.

Methodology:

We have been identifying orphan/semi/street children through our volunteers, citizens, police, women and child welfare department. We pre-view of the incoming children problems and difficulties. We counsel and arrange for emotional acceptance of the children. We arrange teaching facilities in the nearby schools according to age. We also provide home tuitions, recreation and health care.

The home will have one care taker who besides handling day-to-day administration and will look after the hostels as warden. One teacher, one vocational instructor, one cook, one attendant, one watchman will be provided for the home. A doctor will be appointed as the center medical attendant on honorarium and all the children will be provided with health check-ups, medicines shall be provided, food, cosmetics, books and uniforms.
