Antiparos Medical Centre: Season 4 – The Paros Swim

In those long ago days, Pre-Covid, in the Summers of 2017 and 2018, Dr Sotiris, Iliada and Monica joined the Antiparos-Punta Open Water Channel Swimming Race to raise funds for essential medical supplies for the Antiparos Medical Center. In 2019, Dr Sotiris and friends held a music concert in the Kastro, Antiparos, also for the Medical Centre. All three campaigns were very successful and with your very generous support, we reached our funding goals each time.

The Antiparos Medical Centre is a vital service providing general and emergency health support for locals and tourists. Whether you have injured yourself in an accident or need support for an ongoing medical condition, the doctors and support staff provide their expert diagnosis and treatment to thousands of tourists each Summer. Without this facility, many of us would be in a very difficult or impossible position during our stay on beautiful Antiparos.

The money raised in 2017, 2018, and 2019, helped purchase the following vital medical supplies needed to keep treating us:

-surgical equipment (gloves, gauzes, blades, forceps, scissors, needle holders, sutures, strips, tapes and tissue glue, suction system and tubes)

-examination and diagnostic equipment (nebulizer, pulse oximeter, stethoscopes, thermometers, manometers, strep A, urine test, cholesterol and sugar strips).

-orthopaedic equipment (slings, casts and narthexes, kinesiotapes and bandages). -Examiner's chair, saline stand, storage closets and furniture (specially adapted emergency storage for the ED room), lights, outdoor waiting benches and new sign label.

-Consumable spares for the ECG, spirometer , printers and other paraphernalia.

We have agreed it is necessary to repeat our efforts ro raise money to help support the Medical Centre this year. Proceeds will again go to the Women's Association of Antiparos which manages a special account, specifically dedicated to The Medical Centre to enable it to keep us in good health! This is particularly important post-Pandemic as many people are still suffering from Covid and its after effects so adding to the burden for the Medical Centre.

First up this year, Monica will take part in a 1.5 Km Swim on the neighbouring Island of Paros and hope, through your donations, to raise an initial 1.5K Euro. One Euro for every hard swum metre!!!!!

The event takes place on 17th June @10.00 am.

During the Summer, we will hold further fundraising, fun events, specifically music gigs to help raise a further 3k to reach our target of donations for this year of 4,500 Euro! With your help!
