WHEN I WAS A BABY

When I was one to three days old. The nursery discovered that I have urinary incontinence so the pediatrics doctor advised my mother to undergo a VCUG laboratory examination and an ultrasound. My bladder was very small and it could not handle my urine and it was infected. Every time I suffer infection my mom suffer a lot because of financial problems to pay for the laboratory and medicine. Every other day she brought me to the hospital for urinalysis and every two weeks my mom went to the doctor for check up. After I drunk medicine for three times a day on seven days, I suffer again for infection on my urine and the doctor request for a urine culture. I am suffering this for three years and my pus cells infection reach to millions. The doctor gave me medicine that can’t be hardly taken by babies and he advised us for the city scan of my kidneys. We are living in the Iloilo Province thus no equipment to be used. We were referred to Manila, the capital of the Philippines. I was rushed in the National Kidney Institute specialized for kidneys and it was found out that my left kidney is on Stage 4 and my right kidney is on Stage 1. The doctor want to implant my bladder immediately but because we don’t have money. The doctor make a hole under my navel and everything became normal. I don’t have infection but I need to wear a modified garter with plastic to held my urine.

GROWING UP AS A TEENAGER

Growing up is not easy with this illness. I have experience being bullied because most of the time my urine is leaking.I smell like urine always and my classmates tease me for that. Most of the time I cry but I need to remain strong to finish my schooling.

When I was 17 years old. I went again for another check-up.By God’s Grace both of my kidneys are healthy. I am planning to undergo implant but I am not ready at that time so I decided not to continue.

GROWING UP AS AN ADULT

I am Anais Gimeno, 24 years old, a licensed educator here in the Philippines. I am now teaching as a substitute teacher in a public school in my country.

From wearing a modified garter with plastic, I am now wearing a diapers all the time

But being a substitute e here in my country who wears diaper all time. This is a difficult task to myself because we are assigned on a mountain mountainous part of my country where scarcity of water supplies is lacking and we need to live in a month or two before we get hired by the government

I have assigned to teach for four public schools by the government but I decline all this four due to my physical condition that I could be prone to infection and sooner it could lead to the deterioration of my kidney if I lived and teach there. The Office of Education advice me to look for a job in which I can work competently.

This was a burden for me. It feels like my dreams were shattered due to this illness. I am very depressed. I cant participate on strenuous activities. I wish I can close this wound and undergo for an implant so that I can go back to teaching, have a happy and longer life and can work efficiently and live normally like you.

I am asking for your help.
