Campaign Story
Our Tatay Zaldy was diagnosed with liver cirrhosis last May 2017 and he has been hospitalized many times because of the ill effects of his disease. Recently, his hepatologist found out that his liver have tumors already and that his liver will only deteriorate as time passes by. And what they can only do is to retard the progression of the disease through consistent medication or do liver transplantation that costs 8 million and need of a compatible donor with 50/50 chance of survival.
Our tatay Zaldy is currently confined in a hospital in Quezon City. We brought him there last May 16, 2018 around 8pm because of severe abdominal pain. According to the doctors, one of the tumors in his liver burst that caused internal bleeding. The pressure of the blood and ascitic fluid in his abdomen cause severe abdominal pain that prompt the doctor to do immediate operation to stop the bleeding.
The following day, he was transferred from emergency room to ICU. An operation took place so that the blood and ascitic fluid on his abdomen can be drained and stop the bleeding by clogging the blood vessel that burst and that also is supplying the tumor. The operation was successful and he was transferred the next day to ICU for close monitoring.
However, yesterday, around 3am of May 21, a complication arised. He was having difficulty breathing. The doctors found out that only 30% of his lungs is functional. His left lung is completely non-functional and his right lung is functioning at around 50% only based on the Xray result. Some blood vessels on his lungs have been clogged by multiple blood clots (pulmonary embolism) and tumor emboli. He also acquired pnuemonia due to compromised immune system. Because of this the oxygen saturation in his body is below normal limits. This is a serious condition since low oxygen intake can cause low blood pressure and affects multiple organs. It may cause multiple organ failure and cardiopulmonary arrest if not addressed properly. His vital signs are unstable for several hours.
Right now he is showing good vital signs but still in critical condition because his lungs are not yet fully functional. He is currently relying on a mechanical ventilator to breathe properly while still in the ICU as of this writing. He is now on his 7th day in the hospital and the current bill is around 1.3M php. The doctors said that he will be staying a little bit longer in the ICU until he is stable already.
Right now we already exhausted all our savings and emergency fund including tatay's health insurance because of multiple hospitalization and medicine expenses since the diagnosis of his disease. We are taking this chance to seek for your help through financial assistance. You can help by donating or by sharing this campaign. Please include Tatay Zaldy in your prayers. We will keep you posted about his current condition on this page. Thank you for your time and God Bless!
