Today is probably just another ordinary day for most people but today is sad day for me and other people, who knew Emmanuel Lanuzo. He was an 18 year-old, who came here to Cebu to fulfill his dreams of becoming a great game developer. He was a good kid, passionate in creating programs, had a good sense of humor, and was active in helping out others without expecting anything in return. His potential bright future in the IT industry, however, was robbed from him when he was shot unmercifully by assailant(s) on a motorcycle at around 1:15 a.m in the morning because of their greed. Although his memory would be forever cherished by the people whose lives was touched by this young prodigy, we should not forget that he died because we have failed as a society to protect our youth from the rising number of criminal activities in our country.
How his life ended with tragedy could have been prevented had there been more police visible in more areas in the country. Especially now, that people are working on mid-shifts and night-shifts, where people have to come and go to work at hours when crimes can easily be done. This is a campaign to raise awareness to the government, businesses, organizations and the entire community to do something about the growing number of violent crimes happening in our society today. We can prevent another Emmanuel Lanuzo from happening again. Even with our little contributions, we could create ripples for a better, safer and, more humane society.
