The AVENIR / NKUIMY SCHOOL GROUP was created in September 1975 in Douala, Cameroon. In 44 years, we have trained thousands of young people from mostly poor families.
The mission of our institution is to train young boys and girls aged from 5 to 21 years old to acquire the basic knowledge necessary for their intellectual and moral development. We teach in accordance with the curricula in force and respecting the laws of the country with regards to education, thus facilitating their admission into local and foreign universities and institutes.
Our wish for more than 40 years has been to give these young people from modest backgrounds access to a quality education, which we have achieved, with good results in official exams since creation. We have a strong and dedicated teaching staff.
Recently, the physical structure of the school has caused many problems. The buildings are old and built on marshy ground, and the walls have started to crack. In order to rebuild the school, we took out loans and started a construction project for redevelopment and modernization six years ago.
However, the construction work was poorly done and did not totally solve the swamp problem. Heavy rains last year, coupled with the marshy land on which our school is built, flooded the school. As a result, some students have left the school. Combined, this has caused a decrease in income and difficulty paying the loans, other bills, and teachers’ salaries.
We don’t want to give up on our mission of educating these students! To save our school and allow reopening in September 2019, the sum of CFA Francs 50.000.000 (about $85,000) is needed. Although we know this is a large sum, with help from many it can be achieved, and we can continue providing quality education to students who need it. Please help us achieve our goal!
